Procrastination & Jonas Brothers

When faced with the thoughts of schoolwork, housework, going to work, parenting, packing, visiting with people we want to connect with before we move from St. Louis, simply organizing things to get ready to move, etc... I decided it was the right time to change the template of our blog.

On a different note, Trent and I moved out of the one upstairs bedroom in our house a couple weeks ago to try to get Hudson to sleep through the night. The 3 of us had been sharing a bedroom and I was still getting up to feed our sweet son once every night. Anyways, I was really giving myself pep talks to let him "cry it out" for a couple nights so he would sleep through the night. Well, the night came when we moved out of the room we were all sharing and Hudson slept through the night! I guess he was waiting for us to stop disturbing him. He's been doing great ever since! Trent & I are now sleeping in our guest room in the basement which had been Brianna's room when she was living with us. It still has lots of pieces of her in the room still, which is fun. One is that we are sleeping under a big poster of the Jonas Brothers every night.

What Hudson has been up to

Here are some things Hudson's been doing this week....

practicing eating (he normally does not have a glass dish on his tray!)

spinach lasagna was a hit

riding in the wagon at the zoo with his friend Caleb

after I made some chocolate covered strawberries for a baby shower, Hudson found the leftover chocolate in the trash & loved smearing it on his face :)

He loves climbing in cabinets...he's normally in the ones in the kitchen while I cook/do dishes, but here he is in the bathroom cabinet (sorry for our trash in the picture too)

lots of exploring & playing can wear a guy out

A Pleasant Surprise

I looked up while helping some customers at work today to see Trent holding Hudson and Hudson holding a red rose. Trent & Hudson were both grinning and giddy with excitement to give me the flower. They gave me the rose and left. I laid it on my desk and went on opening a bank account for my customers. Them standing there with smiles & a rose was a beautiful picture that I kept seeing throughout the rest of my day. It definitely brightened my day at the bank. You're the 2 best guys to me...thanks!

Our One Year Old Little Tyke

We just got back from Hudson's 1 year check-up and he got another clean bill of health. We are so thankful for the health of each of our family members as we continue to hear more stories of sickness in our world.

We affectionately started calling Hudson "little tyke" from time to time when he was born. It was nothing we planned, it just came out. He is living up to that name as he is now in the 15th percentile for height, weight & head circumference. He is just a little guy. It's interesting though because we often get "wow, he is such a big baby" and we've never once heard "oh, what a little baby you have".

Some of Hudson's favorite things to do now are exploring cabinets, clapping his hands, dropping objects from his high chair and watching them hit the ground, going to the playground (he points them out if we go near them), talking (it's so much fun to have "conversations" with him), seeing/petting dogs and cats, pushing toys around and riding any toy that he can sit on.

Hard at Work

When Hudson and I went to tell Trent it was time for dinner, this is what we saw. Although he often has countless books being used at one time on his desk, this time I counted 30 books. He claims that he's using them all! He loves spending time at his desk reading and learning.
