The Year of the Bike

Trent's birthday was last Monday, but we are celebrating today. He is just getting into triathlons, so having a bike was in order. He's been borrowing a very very nice tri-bike for the last 1-2 months. He's also been looking at Craig's List for a good deal on a tri or road bike since the beginning of the year and found this one last night. It was a steal.

His first triathlon is this Saturday! The kids and I are excited to go cheer him on (although it requires leaving our house around 5am!).

Happy Birthday Trent! I'm excited you finally got a bike. I really do love you more with each passing year although I never think it's possible for my love for you to grow. :)

Camp Johnstone

Last week we had an exhilarating, active & awesome vacation with my family in Vermont. My parents built a log cabin on a beautiful piece of land near the Canadian border in the '70s. We've been vacationing there since before I was born.

The weather was perfect all week- 70s, sunny & a light breeze. A very welcomed break from the heat & humidity of southern Florida.

Hudson at 2 years 4 months

Hudson is really into leggos & things that go- cars, trucks, tractors, planes, etc... He loves to point out any truck he sees while we're in the car or he's in the stroller. When playing with leggos, he normally builds a garbage truck. We even set out little leggos to be the trash cans and he drives his truck down the leggo street and carefully dumps the trash from each can into the truck. His second favorite thing to build right now is a school bus.
Hudson is Mr. Independent, wanting to do everything himself. This morning he picked out this monster truck shirt to wear. He insists on climbing in and out of the car, in and out of bed and in and out of his booster chair by himself.

He's very inquizitive about the world around him. He asks what friends, family members & inanimate objects are doing many many times a day. This is what I hear continually, "Mom, what's _______doing right now?"

For the last few months, he hasn't napped every day. He does have a daily rest time in his room and falls asleep a few times per week. Recently, I've found him sleeping in his laundry basket (the picture below is right after he woke up) or on his floor.

He loves to say "cheers" as he clinks cups with you at a meal. We don't know where he saw this or learned it, so we asked him

Trent: "Hudson, where'd you learn how to do cheers?
Hudson: "God taught me."

We often call him "H-diddle." I'm not sure where this came from or how/when it started.

Finally, Hudson's favorite color by a long shot is yellow.
