The Power of Bye Bye

First, I don't have much update on Mark. He's still in the hospital, but I did get to talk to him today and he sounded much better- that seems like a good sign.

We still haven't bought a new camera, mostly from our laziness. I'm hoping to get one before Halloween so you can all see the scariest, cutest little dinosaur. Hudson got his halloween costume a couple weekends ago from Aunt Stephanie and has been asking to wear it when I get him dressed in the morning. I taught him how to hold up his "claws" and roar...it's priceless!

In absence of fun pics, I thought I'd tell you a great phase Hudson is going through right now. He loves telling people and things "bye bye." He's been saying this and waving for a half a year or so, but he is really into it now. So here's the great thing- if we have to leave a super fun place, like a playground, and Hudson starts to throw a tantrum. I can say, "Hudson tell the slide bye bye." He immediately stops the tantrum and in a sweet demeanor waves and says "bye bye." It works with everything- leaving a stick outside, walking away from a shiny fire engine in a parking lot, leaving his pacifier in his bed, saying goodbye to friends, etc.... He should probably be disciplined for starting to throw a tantrum, but this is so easy and has worked 100% recently. I can't imagine this phase will last long, but I'm enjoying it now.

Internet's back & little Mark

Our internet was suddenly shut-off for the last week. But, it is back and running now and so I'll post some updates soon.

Hudson & I got to travel to North Carolina 2 weekends ago for my sister's family weekend at her college. Our other sister & her family came too and we had a great time exploring Wilmington together. Actually several people started getting sick that weekend and one of my nephews has wound up in the hospital. So, if you're the praying type, would you pray that Mark gets better quickly. Thanks! He was admitted to the hospital on Sunday with Mastoiditis (infection in the Mastoids...he actually has infection in all cavities in his head...sinus...both ears...both mastoids...).

Mark & Aaron (5 year old twins)...Mark is on the right

This is actually our second nephew to be hospitalized this month. Thankfully little Jace is at home and better. It seems like it is going to be a long flu/cold/sickness season.

Storytime

Well, since we're in between cameras, I thought I'd share a story from our household.

A couple weeks ago, I was either cooking or washing dishes when I heard Hudson whimpering from the other room. [On a side note, our kitchen, dining room & living room (which is the whole downstairs) all open to one another so he can be anywhere downstairs while I'm in the kitchen.] Anyways, I suddenly started hearing what sounded like a lost puppy. So, I hurried into the living room to find Hudson stuck in the fireplace. He had never given the fire place a once over before so I never gave him exploring it a second thought. This fireplace takes wood and there was none in there, but it has obviously been used before because when I pulled him out he was covered in soot! I had to immediately strip him and wash him. I wish I had a picture to share. He has not been interested in the fireplace since then.

2 Uncles...

...in one week. In addition to my brother-in-law, Brian, stopping by last week, Trent's brother, Chad, passed through Dallas and stayed with us Saturday night. He's on the far left in the pic below (this is from the summer of 2007). Chad & his wife, Jessie, recently had their fourth baby boy. It was so fun to see some pictures and video of the newest Casto boy. We can't wait to meet little Jace in person!

Our camera completely broke and I'm not sure what we're going to do. It seems like Christmas is too far off to wait and ask for a new camera then. I think we'll just have to go ahead and buy a new one now.  Anyone have any great camera buying suggestions? We loved our Canon point-and-shoot that just bit the dust (after 5+ years).

Eyelash Tension

I took this picture a couple weeks ago while Hudson and I were on a walk not far from our house. The "Nail Spa's" monthly special is "Eyelash Tension" for only $129.00. What in the world is eyelash tension and why are people paying over a hundred dollars for it? These aren't rhetorical questions. I would love some answers as I've never heard of this. I guess I could just google it, but that doesn't seem like as much fun.
